Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), pose a significant public health challenge, accounting for approximately 71% of global deaths. The prevention and control of NCDs require a comprehensive and accessible knowledge base, enabling the public and healthcare workers to gain better knowledge, make informed decisions, and implement effective strategies. To address this critical need, there is a need to simplify messaging and make knowledge accessible for easier understanding, leveraging the use of technology and artificial intelligence. This includes thought leadership and the local generation of new evidence and knowledge empowering the public, people living with NCD (PLWNCD), and the workers with the tools and information needed to combat NCDs effectively.
Progress in the NCD agenda depends on individuals’ passion about delivering on the promise! The empowerment program focuses on leadership training and using coaching techniques to equip professionals and teams with the knowledge, skills, and strategies needed to excel in leadership roles within the public sector and drive action on NCD! To be truly NCD-Ready!
ActioNCD advocates and works to accelerate NCD prevention and control efforts by collaborating with local teams to create context-specific country-curated high-impact packages of interventions that would ensure the achievement of the SDG 3.4.1 of 33% relative reduction in premature mortality due to NCD by 2030. The approach is rooted in evidence-based interventions, such as the World Health Organization’s NCD Best Buys, which we tailor to local needs and develop a country NCD Best Buys package. We prioritize innovative high-impact projects integrated to complement and enhance existing programs.
