Kenya is at a decisive moment in the fight against Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), which now account for over 39% of all deaths nationwide. With devolution placing health leadership squarely in the hands of counties, there is an urgent need for localized, data-driven, and collaborative action to tackle the growing NCD crisis.
Between March 5–17, 2025, Wellness for Greatness Kenya, in partnership with ActioNCD International, engaged 12 counties—spanning Nairobi, Kiambu, Kakamega, Bungoma, Machakos, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Siaya, Vihiga, Narok, and Elgeyo Marakwet—covering over 38% of the national population. This strategic engagement unearthed critical insights:
• Gaps in frontline capacity for NCD detection, management, and community outreach
• A strong appetite for digital tools to enhance service delivery and resource efficiency
• High political will at county level—paired with a call for structured technical and partnership support
Mbio za Afya: Racing Ahead for NCD Solutions builds directly on this momentum. Held from May 12–14, 2025 in Naivasha, this three-day forum convenes Directors of Public Health, NCD Coordinators, and national stakeholders to:
Share knowledge and best-practice solutions
Co-develop actionable county-level intervention strategies
Leverage digital and scalable innovations for NCD acceleration
Solidify inter-county collaboration through a formal partnership framework
Make leadership commitments aligned with achieving SDG Target 3.4.1
This is not just a meeting—it is a national milestone. It is where ideas meet action, and counties lead the charge toward a healthier, NCD-resilient Kenya.
